This is a section of a museum catalog featuring an upcoming, fictional exhibit. I chose to focus on the Portraitry and Flora Fusion section by fictional artist Collette D. I used a combined grid system, sticking to a column style grid for the table of contents and artist bio. For the cover page and artwork showcase I applied a modular grid. In the artwork section, the images take up the majority of the page, highlighting the art work. The art work is what’s going to attract the crowd to the exhibit, therefore it requires a higher place in the hierarchy of the layout. The text accompanying each image is in an alternating module next to the image; it does not detract from the image, but provides more information if the reader is interested. The alternating layout creates visual interest while adhering the modular layout and without detracting from the imagery.
