11×17″ poster created for Jazz Night, a musical evening put on by Casper College. Casper College is a community college located in Wyoming. This particular event was focused on the music of Miles Davis, with a theme of “uniqueness.” Jazz music is inherently funky, and I wanted the poster to capture that funky feel. The buildings all have their own swag, and the musicians in the window look like they’re having a great time. The poster needed to stand out amongst a sea of other advertisements, so I designed the whole layout with an eye-catching color scheme of contrasting colors.

My design process almost always begins with research and getting to know the client. For this particular project, I met with the musical directors of Jazz Night, who gave me plenty of information! From there I moved on to creating thumbnail sketches of potential layouts before moving in to digital design space. Original artwork was really important to the client, so I focused on developing my own illustrations for the final design.
