Slaughterhouse Five is one of my very favorite books. When a project came along to recreate a book cover, I jumped at the chance to give this book a makeover. The scribble shape in the background mimics Kurt Vonnegut’s own loose illustration style, while the falling soldier figure pays homage to the book’s main character. The color palette is attention-grabbing, with deep reds and bright, almost jarring orange. The font is a military-style font, again drawing attention to the book’s subject and main character. The font of the author listing is in a complementary style to the title, allowing the smaller text to be more easily read.
